Reflection's Flora and Fauna
A collection of my photos of flora and fauna, and maybe now and then,
something else that catches my attention and just will not let go.
Maybe even with little verbage, which is pretty hard for this gal.

Utah Juniper, Berries

.
I had been trying to get good photos of the berries on the junipers for weeks, every time I found a nice spray, it was so windy that all photos came out blurry.  Finally on April 11, 2011 at Red Rock State Park, near Sedona Arizona, the wind was still for just a moment or two - -

* Not very large, the remnants of one berry in Man's hand.

** For some facts on the Utah Juniper can be found here.

Is There EVER Enough Red?

.
I don't think there is, do you??  The day we hiked Red Rock State Park, near Sedona Arizona, there was an over abundance of red rock, sending us into sensory overload.  However, there were not many flowers blooming yet, a few yellow ones, and this one lone red one.  The only one spied in almost 2 miles of hiking.  Identify remains a secret, to me anyway.  LOL

Pedro Gonzales and the Goat of Haynes Arizona

.
The chickens of Haynes were the real attraction for me (no, I have NO idea why! LOL).  But, there was also Pedro the burrow and this goat - -

The Chickens of Haynes Arizona, Gold Ghost Town

.
In April, while staying in Camp Verde Arizona, Man and I made several trips to Jerome Arizona, and one of those trips included a few hours stop in Haynes, Arizona, a gold mine ghost town.  It is now a eclectic junk yard man's heaven.  Man was in heaven!  Even tho I did find a number of interesting objects to photograph, I was rather bored by the whole thing, except for the critters around town, a burrow and a goat or two and a mess of chickens.  I'll bring you the burrow and goat another day, but, here are the chickens:

And, if you think  it was easy getting this many photos of chickens, think again, they move fast and continuously!  Geesh!

Heads Down, The Darkling Beetle

.
Red Rock State Park, near Sedona Arizona, April 11, 2011.

Heads down, this action got my attention:

And, boys will be boys, Man just had to flip it over:

* A very quick Google search, first hit, fascinating page.

** No harm was done to this darkling beetle by the flipping, it quickly righted itself and we continued our hike.

Begonias, Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah

Begonias are one of my personal favorite flowers, which I have had some difficulty keeping beautiful and healthy when I try to grown them at home. In front of the library, this year, in those huge raised beds, they have lots of begonias, in so many colors.  I have begonia envy.  Here are a few of theirs:
