Reflection's Flora and Fauna
A collection of my photos of flora and fauna, and maybe now and then,
something else that catches my attention and just will not let go.
Maybe even with little verbage, which is pretty hard for this gal.

Roses, Roses, California Coming Up Roses

.
I'll give California a lot of kudos, oceans, coastlines to die for, lots of wine, err, grapes and other vegies, and flora everywhere, gorgeous flora.

Especially the roses.  Have to admit, I have never been a huge fan of roses, but, if I lived in California, I might have to give em a try, I mean, lookie how beautiful!  Oh, and FENCES too!

Orange, Yellow, Living on the California and Oregon Coasts, But, WHAT Am I? UPDATED! Red Hot Poker

.
I have searched and snooped, and I thought I found the name of this beauty once, and now, I cannot find it again.  I really hate when I do that.  SIGH

SO, what is it?

First two photos taken on May 19, 2013 by Man from Jolly's window when we were driving along the Lost Coast of California.  Distance from left coast waters, only a few hundred feet.

Next two photos taken by Moi, on June 7, 2013 at Shore Acres State Park,  Coos Bay, Oregon, again within just a few hundred feet of the left coast ocean.

Looks like the bees like it too!

** Thanks to friends Fran and Charley, this has been identified as Red Hot Poker.  THANK!! YOU!!  Took them all of 3 minutes or less!  WOOT!

California Ground Squirrel

.
Early April 2013, near Cambria California

The squirrels were almost tame.    Many of the squirrels we have seen here seem to have tails that have square ends.  Maybe the ones I am seeing have had their tails, err, "trimmed"?  I am not sure I have a good photo of that square.  Since this particular critter was more than willing to have it's photo taken, I am more than willing to share it with you.

I know, squirrels are considered pests by many, and some will think they are boring.  I think they are our Makers's critters and this one was extremely cooperative with Sony Too and that made it a fun experience.

This is the same squirrel as is over at Reflections From the Fence.

Singing in Agness Oregon :: Western Tanager

.

Little singer was high up in a tree, probably 20 feet or more away.

Sony Too zoomed all the way, Carol holding her breath.  Nope, no tripod, I just don't carry one.  Photo was slightly edited, including just a little sharpening of the edges.

* Identification found here.

The Sneak Attack :: Seagull Lunch Time

.
Take a good look at this photo, see the seagull doing the sneak attack on this picnic table?

Sly devil, figures if he does not really LOOK at the bag no one will notice him (or her).

I can hear his/her thoughts, "If I keep strolling, gotta be nonchalant, ya, I think I am pulling this off - - "

I have no further photos, I wonder, is he/she still out there, being nonchalant?

Bluebird, Thought it Was Western, Not So Sure?

.

*Edited to change name of bird, waiting for further identification.

Consider:  Lazuli Bunting Male.  And, here.

Was well over 20 feet away from me, Sony Too did the zoom!

*Special thanks to friend Linda who questioned my original identification.  Where would I be without my constant faithful watchers and friends??  Thanks Linda.
