Reflection's Flora and Fauna
A collection of my photos of flora and fauna, and maybe now and then,
something else that catches my attention and just will not let go.
Maybe even with little verbage, which is pretty hard for this gal.

Tampa Zoo: Southern White Rhino

Copyright 2016, CABS for Reflection's Flora and Fauna

The Tampa Lowry Zoo has babies.  We visited just to see babies.  We were successful and enjoyed our day tremendously.

Here is Ahadi, a southern white Rhino, born May 21, 2015.  The heavy lines are to protect the creatures from man, eh?

Tampa Zoo:: The Baby Elephants Playing in the Pool

Copyright 2016, CABS for Reflection's Flora and Fauna

Our visit to the Tampa Lowry Zoo was to visit babies.  The elephants caught my attention for 11 minutes and almost 70 photos.  Yes, they were that cute.  I'll confess, I have never seen elephants play and swim in the water the way these two did.  The larger (I am assuming from birthdates) is Mpumi, born December 23, 2012.  The slightly smaller is Mavi, born on July 29, 2013.

Enjoy the show:

Tampa Zoo: The Baby Zebra

Our visit recently to the Tampa Lowry Zoo was a hunt for babies.  We found them.  And, enjoyed them.  Meet Ruuxa, born January 15, 2016. Ruuxa is the first of the Harmann's Mountain Zebra born at the Lowry zoo.  In the first photo you can see her size in relation to the giraffe.

This HUGE tortoise eats his live oak leaf with a delicate tongue.

And, he got his leaf snack!

Tampa Zoo:: Meercat

The meercat (from South Africa) is so much like the prairie dog that I cannot resist photographing them.  So, I do.

Tampa Zoo: Baby Marabou Stork

Copyright 2016, CABS for Reflection's Flora and Fauna

Our visit to the Tampa Lowry Zoo was all about babies.  Some are cute, and some have faces and bodies only a momma could love.

This is a marabou stork, born February 23 or 27, 2016.  (The light gray line in the middle of the photo is the fencing used to surround the display, to protect the babies from us, the humans.  Sony III and I just zoomed enough to see the baby and make the fencing not quite so obvious.)

Here are both of the chicks and one of the parents.  When we left the area I saw one of the parents (the dad?) carrying in a 4 foot stick to add to the nest.  You can clearly see the wires in this photo.
