Welcome to Reflection's Flora and Fauna.
I have found I am having so much fun with the camera that there are many more photos taken than will fit on my blog, Reflections From the Fence.
I post flora and fauna photos here. One subject a day, a flora and fauna 365 project. I managed to get past the first 365 and started the second year of this daily exercise. I made it till sometime in November of 2011. And, now, Flora and Fauna is just a regular ole blog, posting when I have something to share and the time to post it.
Some posts are wordy, some are wordless. My goal is to make them as wordless as possible. However, if I find something interesting during the posting/research process, I may share, ok, I will probably share. I hope you find the words and photos to be interesting.

Carol, I've never seen anything like this. Is it a flowering plant or a tree, and does it bloom further? Great colors. Thanks.
Never noticed those pink blooms in the mugo before. Great detail....as always.

While I was out playing with the camera and taking photos all over the yard, for some reason I wandered over to the circle with about 6 mugos and noted that that little pink flower/bud thingy was there, and some pine cones and other neat stuff, and I started shooting photos.
Then, to my dismay, I discovered these nasty varments on my mugos:

These ickies will defoiliate a mugo in days, even hours. I have only had them one other time since 1972, at another home we owned. Nasty, nasty, nasty. The damaged areas on those mugos never really grew back.
After photos, I went digging in my arsenal of bug killing chemicals, and found something that had a little malathion in it, sprayed and sprayed. Not sure if the malation got em, or if I drowned them, but, as far as I can determine, they are all gone now.
Who knew the side benefits one could realize from macro photo shooting??
