Reflection's Flora and Fauna
A collection of my photos of flora and fauna, and maybe now and then,
something else that catches my attention and just will not let go.
Maybe even with little verbage, which is pretty hard for this gal.

Tampa Zoo: Chimpanzee

Copyright 2016, CABS for Reflection's Flora and Fauna

Our visit to the Tampa Lowry Zoo was to see babies, and this one was high on the "punch" list.  This is Keeva.  Keeva is an orphan "adopted" by Abby.  Keeva was born March 12, 2015 at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.  Her mother did not handle motherhood very well, according to articles I found online.  Keeva was moved to Tampa when she was 4 weeks old.  Her mother, Abby, is 32 and has been a foster mommy 3 times before Keeva.

While we were visiting the chimps were all given a treat.   What looked like short lengths of plastic pipe stuffed with peanut butter and peanuts and who knows what else were thrown to the chimps.  Abby was actually called out of the back of the display to "catch" her treat.

It was a fun few minutes and again, Sony III and I were zooming away.

If you look closely,  you can see Abby has her treat and off they go to find a quiet spot to snack undisturbed.

Mom and adopted child:

"Can I try to dig it out Mom??"

Keeva is a little over a year now, seems to be doing quite well with her "Mom".
