This pink bush has given me fits for a couple of years, photography fits that is. When I shoot, I get lots of red and glare and little contrast. A Google+ friend, Dawn, posted a photo taken late in the day with a flash, next night I was out trying it. First attempt:

Sounds like a good suggestion, esp. if you are at the object that time of day. Your last photo is lovely.
The first picture is my favorite because of the green leaves.
