Reflection's Flora and Fauna
A collection of my photos of flora and fauna, and maybe now and then,
something else that catches my attention and just will not let go.
Maybe even with little verbage, which is pretty hard for this gal.

Osprey

.

Same bird, Sony zoomed to the max, Carol holding her breath, acting as a tripod.  The first photo shows how far away it was, no cropping done, note the burnt tree.  The last photo was cropped to show the bird as large as I could manage with the photo editing software.

Beautiful shots, Carol . . . you did great! Beautiful bird too. I was able to see Osprey up-close on a trip to Oregon on the Rogue River . . . just beautiful (I know I said that three times now!). Merry Christmas to you and yours, Carol ~

Thank you Gini, Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

Ron and Thelma, no, that nest is gone, it got tossed down in a storm, not sure which one, but, it is gone. The only nests we have seen are over on 135 between the beach road and the road going into the campground, sometimes known as Campground Road, other times, known as Fort Morgan Road.

This osprey was just sitting atop a tree in the burnt area of the park, over 900 acres burned this summer. The fire was on the north side of the campground and continued along the Huge S Branyon Backcountry Trail for well over a mile. We were on that trail walking when I spied the osprey. My egret photos were no good, they were just too far away for Sony to capture.

Nice Carol! We have an Osprey nest atop a telephone pole at the end of our street. I assume the same pair "own" it and have for years. I have often seen baby heads popping up as the parents feed them and then the nest is abandoned for a while until they come back and start over again.

Love the raptor photo sequence. Hope the ospreys are still there in the spring -- we'll watch for them then.
