Found growing along a hiking trail at Silly Mountain, near Apache Junction, Arizona.
There it is, with Man up the trail a bit, waiting for me to catch up. You can tell this is a nice healthy specimen, about 3 to 4 foot tall.

Neat looking but also very painful if tangled with!
I have never heard of this one or seen one. Fascinating. Almost looks like a wire bundle. Thanks for adding to my education.Myrna
