Candy, Coffee and Checkers, Sauders of Grabill Indiana
Ok, technically, these photos are not of flora or fauna, but, they have candy, some of which may have had bees involved in the basic manufacture, bees fall into fauna, so, stretch a L-O-T and we have our connections. Stretch a whole L-O-T! LOL
Very near Fort Wayne Indiana there is a little town called Grabill. Much to our delight, it is about 10 miles from the campground we stay in here, and seems to be the center of an Amish community. Who knew?? We have been coming here for years and I did not know.
So, Saturday, we drove over, had lunch, and a lookie see. One place we wandered into was H. Sauder & Sons, General Merchandisers. Sauder is one of my family names, so you know I was not gonna miss this. Sometime I will try to do some research to determine if these Souders and mine from the Rockingham County Virginia area are related, in the meantime, our photos for today:
AND:
And, coffee, that is Flora, right?? Have a cup along with your game of checkers.
Tomorrow, we will return to our regularly scheduled flora and fauna posts, hope you enjoyed today's little side jaunt. Man and I did, we were charmed by the candy, coffee and checkers of Grabill Indiana.

Gone to Seed, Simply Grass, The Brown Version
I seem to have a small fascination with grass gone to seed, see my post from June 15th. About a month later, I took this photo, the seed has turned brown. And, I am still fascinated, and still learning the best way to get a nice close up photo. LOL

Maybe Fowl(ed), WHAT Am I? Answer: Guinea Fowl, Thanks Hummer
Today at Flipside, Linda, has photos of our National bird, the bald eagle, you just have to see. My response to our friendly every Wordless Wednesday challenge is this fowl or bird of some kind that I cannot identify. It was taken on our country road on July 15th, I thought, maybe, wild turkeys, but when I started the google search, I came up with a huge question mark. I will gladly entertain suggestions as to type and name of this creature.

Passion Flower
Before we glance at today's photo, I am tickled to let you in on a new blog of flowers and gardens, NO not another of mine! Barbara of Life From the Roots, has started a new and beautiful blog, FLOWERS FROM MY AREA. You just MUST visit. I know you will enjoy it!
Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing.
From Reflection's archives, these were growing on the fence around the pool at Bentson Palms Village RV Resort, Mission, Texas, several years ago when we stayed there. That year they were profuse bloomers. Exquisite.

Pinks for Wordless Wednesday
Linda from Flipside and I have an ongoing fun competition where she posts on Wordless Wednesday and I try to find a like photo. Linda has been pretty busy lately with family, work, and such and readily admits her blog has taken back seat.
Yesterday over on Facebook, Barbara, from Life From the Roots volunteered to join thefray, err, fun and do a post that I could try to duplicate. Well, imagine Barbara's surprise to see my post of fuchsia yesterday. Why surprised, ??? Well, go have a look. Her photos are totally awesome! *2016 update, Barbara has removed this post.
Linda did post a flower photo today for her entry Wordless Wednesday, a Gaura. Pretty in pink.
So, I decided that pretty pink flowers would be my response today. I have done my fuchsia and I am not aware that I have a gaura. From Reflection's archives, taken at Wildseed Farms, Fredericksburg Texas a few years ago.
Hope you enjoyed our day in the pink. Thanks Linda and Barbara for the great photos and the challenges!

Here's Looking at You, Babe
Praying mantis, this particular individual was found hanging out on the screen to the half bath window. Let me tell you at 6:45 AM, when I walked in there, eyes still glued shut with sleep, well, can we say, that was some wake up call?? Eyes popped right open, brain function jump started and I grabbed the camera. I took a number of shots from INSIDE the house.
Knowing that the screen was interfering, I went out side and took several more photos. At some point, I decided to try flash (it was early and gray). And, I guess the flash attracted his attention, because that creature actually turned at looked right at me (top photo). Kinda bizarre when I loaded the photos onto the computer.
A great page on praying mantis was found via a quick google.
* Man actually was able to measure this beast, and tells me it was 3.5 inches long and the spread of the legs was 3 inches.
